The launch needs to be addressed at the design stage. Depending on the size and power of the fan, and in relation to the wiring options, the need for starting with reduced starting current and torque must be carefully and responsibly considered. Reduction of starting current and torque can be provided with soft starters, reduced voltage, Y/D switching.
Fan start-up can only be carried out in a limited manner and with sufficient time intervals to ensure that the allowable motor temperature is not exceeded. Normally, fans with higher outputs can only be run a few times per hour.
